Faith Like My Momma Said
Faith was never meant to be complicated; it’s the kind of simple trust that says, “my momma said, so I believe it.” Jesus calls us to that same kind of faith, believing He can do anything and trusting His Word as true just because He is our Father.

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” - Mark 10:15
If you are anything like me, when you were a child you thought your parents were superheroes. Not only could they do anything, but if they said it, you believed it. You trusted their words without questioning, without overthinking. To this day, I still catch myself starting sentences with, “My momma said…” because something in me still holds onto that simple trust.
This is how Jesus wants us to approach our faith.
He is inviting us to believe that He can do anything. Not halfway, not with conditions, but fully. Like a child who hears a promise and receives it right away. No hesitation, no need to figure it all out first. Just trust.
So often, we complicate faith. We want explanations, proof, control. We try to reason our way through every situation before we choose to believe. But Jesus points us back to something simple. Receive the kingdom like a child. Receive it with a soft heart. Receive it simply because He is your Father and He said so.
A child doesn’t feel the need to earn their place in the family. They do not strive to prove they belong. They simply rest in the love that is already theirs. That is what God is offering us. A relationship where we believe His Word because we know Him. A place where we trust His ability when we cannot see the outcome.
Believing like this does not make you weak. It makes you anchored. It takes the pressure off trying to have all the answers. It frees you from carrying what was never yours to carry. It reminds you that God is able, even when you are not.
Today, come back to that place of childlike faith. Let your guard down. Lay aside the overthinking. Believe that He can do anything. Believe His Word just because He is your Father and He said so.
And rest in that kind of faith.
